Ísold Uggadóttir is an Icelandic writer/director currently based in Reykjavik and New York City. Her films have premiered at such festivals as Sundance, BFI London, Sao Paulo, Hamptons, Palm Springs, Aspen, Göteborg, Nordisk Panorma, and over 100 others, garnering praise and multiple awards.

Committed (2009) and Clean (2010) were both recipients of the the Icelandic Academy Award (Edda) for Best Short Film, while her debut Family Reunion (2006) received a nomination for the same award.

Her latest installment, Revolution Reykjavik was honored with the Adrienne Shelly Foundation Award for Best Female Director 2011, as well as the Arthur J. Harris Memorial Prize given by Columbia University's School of the Arts for work that embodies social change. Revolution Reykjavik has been nominated for the Icelandic Academy Awards 2012 for Best Short and Best Actress in leading roll. The awards ceremony is to take place on February 18th.

Revolution Reykjavik has also been selected to compete for the Nordic Independent Film Awards, taking place in Norway in March.

Ísold spent a decade living in New York City, where she completed an MFA hons in Writing and Directing from Columbia University's School of the Arts, as well as a degree in Interactive Telecommunications from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

She worked for the Emmy-award winning Partisan Pictures as an editor of documentary films, prior to beginning her career as a director.
Her most comprehensive project was the editing of 4 x 1-hour episodes for a History Channel documentary series on the American Revolution.

Her experience also includes childcare in Vienna, factory work in Copenhagen, table serving in Berlin, and telephone operating in Reykjavik. Currently, she favors writing, directing and editing, over the above.

Isold's work has been funded by The New York State Council of the Arts, New York Women in Film and Television, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Icelandic Film Centre, The City of Reykjavik, The American Scandinavian Society in New York, IFP in New York, as well as the Frameline Film & Video Completion Fund in San Francisco. She was a 2010-2011 fellow of the American-Scandinavian Foundation, where she received support from the prestigious Charles K. Willey fund..

Screen International's Nordic Edition named Ísold one of the rising stars of Icelandic Film in 2008. Currently she is developing her first feature film with tentative plans to begin filming in 2013.
